How to Top the State in Grade 12

High school can be a tough journey, not only for students, but also for parents. From figuring out what subjects to take to figuring out what extra-curricular activities are useful to finding the right pathway after secondary education, this talk will give you an insight into how to succeed! This session will cover Joshua's journey through high school and beyond, and he looks forward to answering any questions that students or parents of students may have!

Joshua is studying a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and Computer Science to explore exciting opportunities in various STEM fields and has received Provisional Entry into the Doctor of Medicine program at UQ. He currently serves as a UQ Academic Board Undergraduate Representative, representing the voices of 35,000 students at the university.

A 2023 Brisbane State High School graduate, he excelled academically, studying 7 subjects and attaining a perfect score in a university-level chemistry course. His achievements, alongside musical and leadership pursuits, earned him the 2023 QCE Outstanding Academic Achiever and Distinguished Academic Achiever Awards, placing him at the top of 53,181 Year 12 graduates in Queensland.

Joshua emphasizes the importance of education and hopes to help many high school students through a tutoring business he founded, and he hopes to globalize equitable healthcare in the future by adapting and integrating emerging technologies into the medical sector and serving on medical missionaries if he pursues medicine.

As a young person, he is very passionate about learning as much as possible about diverse fields, having recently travelled to Indonesia to learn about social entrepreneurship, as well as San Francisco to learn about emerging technological fields while working in a tech-based internship at a law firm.

Joshua is a member of Australian Mensa based in Brisbane.
